A Mezuzah is a small piece of paper or parchment inscribed with passages from the Torah and placed in a decorative container that is attached to the doorpost – always on the right side and at a 30 degree angle. Along with fulfilling the Torah’s mandate, hanging a mezuzah by the door frame reminds followers of the law of their God, whether they are coming or going from the building.
Importantly, the Mezuzah must be kosher, otherwise it is a violation of rabbinic law. Typically the skin of a lamb or goat is used for the parchment, feathers from a goose or turkey are used as quills for writing, and the black ink is specially prepared from what?
A. Vegetable ingredients
B. Silt from the Nile river
C. Ground Locusts
D. Swan blood extract
